We're home again after a beautiful weekend in Portland, Maine.
It's saying a lot that as soon as we arrived in town and started walking around Tim said he already wished we were staying longer. (I felt the same way!) It's a pretty little town, and the people are super friendly and down to earth. We felt right at home. (And we ate very well here and here. I highly recommend both places, if you ever find yourself in the area.)
We've done quite a bit of traveling with Michael since he was born, but somehow I'm still surprised at how challenging and fun it is to travel with a little one. It's high-risk-high-reward, for sure. While we were away this weekend Michael threw more than one tantrum, missed out on some naptimes, and tested the limits of our parenting skills while eating out in restaurants. (Is it too much to ask for five minutes of peace?!) On the other hand he also ate lobster and duck and radishes and pea soup, he made friends with people everywhere we went, and he learned to say "boat" and squawk like a seagull. None of those things would have happened this weekend if we had stayed in our comfy routine at home. And that makes the stress and extra work of traveling with this tiny little person worth it.
Happy Monday, friends! I hope your week is off to a fantastic start - xoxo

Hi Christi! I found you through the Monday Meet Up and am now following your through GFC. I was born in Maine, but my parents moved to Missouri while I was still a baby. I think I moved 8 times with them as an army brat.
ReplyDeleteSome of your pictures' file sizes were too large and just refused to load. :(
I really like the photo of your boy on the bed, so beautiful! Of course, when they get older, you can't say a guy is beautiful. :)
I have 5 blogs, because I just love writing and communicating with others. I'm also a mom of 4. Please check out my parenting blog and I would really love a follow back if possible at http://abooksandmore.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely weekend you had! I love travelling too, and it's a bit (ok a lot) of extra work with a little one. I think all of the memories will be worth the missed nap times and the cranky restaurant meals:)
ReplyDeleteHi Erika! So true - just looking at the photos, I already feel like it was worth it :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures, I would love to visit Maine (maybe someday) I love Micheal's hat, my husband is a huge Boston Red Soxs fan and he's indoctrinating *ahem* teaching our boys to love them too.
