Funves

Hello out there! I am so excited about this collection of faves - in addition to being beautiful, they're all just so fun. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! xoxo

I loved Barbies as a girl. Not the actual playing of Barbies, but rather the designing of their homes, weddings, outfits, occasional sewing of linens and clothes, etc. Although I had the coolest, custom-made Barbie house around (thanks to your creativity Mom and Dad!), there's still a little girl inside me that wants this one. It would look so good with the red Ferrari parked in the driveway...
Love that orange sectional! Spotted on design mom.

Can't wait to make these chocolate pudding cups from bakerella. What a fun project, and such a pretty (and yummy) result!

Always fits, a site with fun, quirky gift ideas that always fit. I like their state pillows which come in a variety of colors and are personalized with a heart in the place of your choice. (Would be a fun DIY project, right?)

New tiles from dwell, spotted on oh joy. I am dying they're all so gorgeous!

This site gets the gold, though, because my favorite thing of all is when information is beautiful. Graphs and maps and bright colors, oh my...

"Oh, how sweet the light of day,
and how wonderful to live in the sunshine!
...don't take a single day for granted.
Take delight in each light-filled hour...
Follow the impulses of your heart.
But know also that not just anything goes;
You have to answer to God for every last bit of it.
Live footloose and fancy-free -
You won't be young forever.
Youth lasts about as long as smoke."

Office space

I spend a lot of time studying at a desk (table) these days. It gets a girl dreaming about the perfect work space...

America the beautiful

Three weeks after returning from our trip to California I'm itching to travel again. Tim gave me the window seat on the flight home and I kind of had a blast picking out landforms and photographing the journey. I love these pictures - what an amazing land we live in!!

More built-ins (and babies!)

I've got just a bit of baby fever here. A close friend had her little one last week, and there has been so much thanksgiving and excitement surrounding his birth - it's been really fun (for me - no sleep deprivation here)! It seems that everywhere I look right now there are more babies. For example, this photo from oh happy day. I thought it was just a great bookshelf. That clock, the urn, the books arranged by color...and then (surprise!) a tiny little baby snuggled up on the shelf! So adorable!
This little one is the newest member of the family for Gabrielle Blair, a designer and mother of six! Check out her blog design mom - it's super cute and well done.

Joanna Goddard, of a cup of jo, one of my favorite blogs EVER, just had a little one too. Have you seen Toby yet? He's too precious for words!

Lots of other friends are expecting or have recently had little ones too, so, it seems like a good time to post some of the nursery pictures I've been collecting. **No, we are not expecting, and I am not looking to put together a nursery right now.** But there are some really great ideas here and I thought I'd share the cuteness. Enjoy!

I have come to the conclusion that all nurseries should have a tree on the wall...
...and maybe even some real branches.
There should be lots of sun...
...and animals.
And, if at all possible, a big comfy chair and some orange.

Geo-Faves

As long as I can remember I have loved maps and all things related to travel and the study of people and places. Over the last week several cool geography-related gems have sparked my imagination so I figured I would feature them here for any other geography nerds who might be reading. Enjoy!

First, some of the earliest color photos taken in autochrome at the beginning of the 20th century from the private collection of Albert Kahn. Such an incredible combination of beauty and history! Click on the link for more photos!

Just love these silver state pendant necklaces from elsewares. I've been looking for a fun necklace and I really want that Montana pendant. (Tim? Are you reading?)

Remember the beautiful map of Paris from famille summerbelle? Well the pink version of the print has been living happily on our mantle for a few months now and it makes me smile every time I see it. Their latest addition, a world map is so gorgeous, I think I may have to make my single print into a collection.

In honor of this most fantastic of bookcases, I'm trying out a new look for the blog. Thoughts?

Hello lovely!

Look what I found at anthropologie!!! 270 pages of glossy photos, floor plans, and decorating suggestions! It's so good I almost can't stand it. Can't wait to curl up and read it from cover to cover...

And, because I'm obsessed and can't stop myself, more ideas for the beach house we're building in California. Ha!

Happy weekend out there! xoxo
