Since the first week of September we've been having preschool at home, and it has been really wonderful! We went back and forth on whether or not to send Michael to a preschool this year. In the end, we decided to try a bit of homeschooling (along with some other activities), and we'll re-visit the preschool idea for next year. We're using the God's Little Explorers curriculum as a guide, and we're really enjoying it. We supplement with lots of other activity books, puzzles, and reading books, along with a couple of our favorite apps (Endless Reader and Endless 123 are our favorites.) Michael has always loved learning, but this has given us some really good structure! We spend about 45 minutes to an hour in our classroom having "school" about 4 days per week, usually in the morning while Samuel naps. We're really having a great time with it. I'm so happy with how much Michael enjoys it, and I'm having fun too!
The first day - he was so excited and insisted on packing his back pack :)
Working hard.
Our classroom. (We finally found a good use for the loft upstairs!)
Love this and him and you! Is that a giant abacus? Coveting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jill! Yes, it is an abacus! It's a knockoff I made a couple years ago, based on one from CB2. The boys love it. For making loud clacking sounds, not for counting. Haha! Anyway, it was a fun project and pretty simple! I can send you the link if you'd like.
